Life will always present us with challenges but it is up to us how we deal with them. A situation can overwhelm us or it can elevate us to a new understanding of who we are. Humans can make a problem worse than they actually are. This creates mind clutter that stops us from logically dealing with something. Emotions can take over creating more stress. I have always lived with the motto “I can handle anything that comes my way.” At times it is easy to forget these simple words when we let a problem escalate within our minds making it worse than it needs to be. As time passes and we look back at a challenge that we moved past, we can see the lesson it taught us and how it has strengthened our personal growth.
Every morning I open the curtains in my bedroom welcoming the new day with all its possibilities. At that moment I can decide how my day will unfold. I can let the dark cloud of a problem consume my reality or I can hang on to the brightness that will continue to grow as I appreciate life. As a child I made a conscience decision to have an optimistic viewpoint in my life. This childhood optimism can be part of my adult world by taking the time to laugh out loud at the simple joys. Laughter and a good cry are a release of our emotions. They are a clearing of the mind clutter we hang on to. Gandi said “Live as if you are going to die tomorrow.” By living each day to its fullest we take the steps to having a fulfilling life. Peace and joy are enticing us back to see the beauty around us. Sometimes stepping outside of your surrounding can give you a new perspective. I decided that I wanted to go to San Diego, California for a couple of days. I am treating myself to this trip as a gift to myself. I know this will lift my spirit. I am happy I will be seeing family and friends that I have not been with for a while. Although I would love Steve to join me on my adventure, he understands it is important to have time and space to myself. What excites me most is that I am taking a whole day and night by myself staying at a beach hotel that has a balcony overlooking the ocean. I plan to take long walks along the coastline taking in all the beauty nature offers. I can already hear the peaceful sounds of the waves. When you make a conscious decision to let go of the mind clutter you’ve accumulated, you remove the turmoil that accompanies it. Then the natural orderliness of the universe rights your untidy world helping you remember the balanced bright light you truly are.
